Art Deco Pendant Lights
Art Deco style brings all the glamour, and razzle dazzle of the roaring 20s to a modern 21st century space. Art Deco is short for Arts Décoratifs and took its name from the International Exhibition of Modern Decorative and Industrial Arts held in Paris in 1925. It combined modern styles with fine craftsmanship and rich materials. It is noted to represent luxury, glamour, exuberance.
At the peak of its popularity in the late 20’s, It also represented faith in social and technological progress. It eventually fell out of favour in the 50s, giving way, at least in interior decor, to Mid-Century Modern style. However, it has made a strong resurgence recently and is still very popular in contemporary and modern homes and offices.
It is truly a timeless and universally beautiful style that will continue to be popular.
A TAKE ON MARBLE AND ALABASTER CHANDELIERS
Marble and alabaster chandeliers offer a unique combination of luxury, elegance, and soft illumination. Both materials have been used for centuries in lighting design due to their timeless appeal and ability to diffuse light beautifully. These chandeliers are more than just lighting fixtures—they are statement pieces that enhance any interior with their refined aesthetic.
While marble chandeliers are known for their durability and striking natural patterns, alabaster chandeliers bring a delicate, ethereal glow to any space. Whether you prefer the bold veining of marble or the subtle translucence of alabaster, both options add sophistication and warmth to a room.
MARBLE VS ALABASTER: WHICH IS RIGHT FOR YOU?
- Classic Appeal: Marble chandeliers have an enduring beauty that suits both traditional and contemporary interiors, while alabaster offers a softer, more understated look.
- Durability: Marble is highly durable and resistant to wear, making it a long-lasting investment. Alabaster, while equally elegant, is more delicate and prone to scratches.
- Lighting Effect: Both materials diffuse light beautifully. Marble provides a warm, rich glow, whereas alabaster emits a gentler, more ethereal light.
- Weight Considerations: Marble chandeliers can be significantly heavier, requiring reinforced ceiling support. Alabaster fixtures are lighter and easier to install.
- Maintenance: Marble requires periodic polishing and sealing to maintain its shine, while alabaster is more porous and needs careful cleaning to prevent discolouration.
Choosing between marble and alabaster ultimately depends on your style preference and the functional needs of your space. Both materials create a stunning focal point, enhancing the ambience and elegance of any room.
INTEGRATING MARBLE AND ALABASTER CHANDELIERS INTO INTERIORS
- Dining Rooms: A marble or alabaster chandelier above the dining table creates an intimate and sophisticated atmosphere. Opt for a sculptural design to add a touch of artistry.
- Living Rooms: These chandeliers act as stunning centrepieces, adding depth and character. Choose a bold marble fixture for dramatic flair or an alabaster chandelier for a softer, more diffused glow.
- Entryways: A well-placed marble or alabaster chandelier in the entryway makes a striking first impression, setting the tone for the rest of the home.
- Bedrooms: For a tranquil, luxurious feel, an alabaster chandelier provides gentle, soothing light, while marble chandeliers add an opulent touch.
Marble and alabaster chandeliers are exceptional choices for those looking to infuse their interiors with elegance, sophistication, and warm illumination. Whether you opt for the bold presence of marble or the delicate beauty of alabaster, both materials bring timeless charm to any space.
