B22 Bulbs
B22 bulbs, commonly referred to as BC LED bulbs, are a fantastic way of saving energy in your home. They come with the traditional push and twist fitting. This is a light bulb with a cap that's 22mm in diameter and has two little pins to keep it snugly in the socket.
These kinds of light bulbs are frequently found in household fixtures and fittings and can be purchased from leading trade brands across a range of colours temperatures, shapes, and lumens to suit your needs.
What is a B22 Bulb?
B22 bulb cap is an essential element of a B22 lamp that features a 2-pin structure to secure the bulb in the socket. It's also referred to as Bayonet cap and showcases a diameter of 22mm, that's making it indispensable for effective lighting. LED B22 bulbs are basically the same as the regular ones you get at the store, but they're way better because they save a ton of energy and 20x last longer than old-school incandescent or halogen ones. Because lighting consumes a lot of energy in your home, B22 LED bulb would really make a big difference. They also give off a nice quality of light that you need for your space. Overall, these things are totally worth it if you want to save money and reduce your carbon footprint.
Importance of choosing the right light bulb
Regardless of the size of your space, lighting can greatly impact the usability of a space. Choosing the right kind of bulbs and properly positioned light fixtures such as overhead lights or lamps can offer both practical and enjoyable ambient illumination.
Factors to consider before buying a B22 Bulb
Wattage
We know that wha you commonly know is that Wattage is the measurement of brightness. And you might be asking yourself “What wattage do I need? Well, the level of brightness in a B22 LED is actually measured by its 'lumen' value and not the wattage. This details is available on the product page but for instance, a 4.5W B22 LED bulb with 350 lumens will shine just as bright as a 50W halogen B22. What's great about LEDs though is they consume only 1/10 of the energy! Plus, beam angle also affects how bright your light appears - opt for narrower angles (45° or less) for more intense illumination.
Colour Temperature
Lumens are all about how bright a bulb is, but when it comes to colours, we measure them in Kelvins. The lower the Kelvin score, the more it cozy and warm the light will be whereas higher scores give you that icy cool vibe. You can pick from Cool White, Warm White or Daylight - whatever floats your boat! But if you're unsure of where to use which colour, well a lot of people go for Warm White in their chill-out spaces while opting for Cool Whites in bathrooms but Daylight hits right between those two extremes!
Dimmable Option
These bulbs might cost a little more, but they're totally worth it because you can use them with almost any dimmer switch, even the off-brand ones! Of course, if you want to get the most out of your lights, we suggest using trailing edge or inductive dimmers.
Other considerations
Do I have to hire an electrician?
Not at all. Standard bayonet fittings can easily accommodate B22 LED bulbs without any professional assistance.
What beam angle should I choose?
The beam angle is like how much light spreads out from the bulb. It's measured in degrees and a wider angle means more coverage. You get to choose whatever beam angle you want, just like picking colors for your outfit. But if lots of people will gather in a space, go with a broader beam so everyone can see clearly. On the flip side, narrow beams are best for decorations or when you need to concentrate on something specific like piece of art or the texture of your fireplace wall.
