The Epitome of Luxury and Vibrance
Crystal table lamps are staple luxury lights for high-end villas and hotels. They bring a sense of prime elegance and wealth to any interior and exterior space. Lamps made from premium quality clear crystals even produce a rainbow of colours once light passes through, bringing joy and excitement to the eyes.
With superb techniques, these refined materials are shaped by artisans and designers into forms that create stunning portable lamps that can enrich the glamorous atmosphere of living and commercial spaces. Introduce poise and finesse to your beloved homes with crystal table lamps from Zest Lighting.
The Difference Between Crystal and Glass
Glass and crystal are both reflective materials. Beginners and those who are not interested in these materials often interchange their terms when describing everyday items such as dinnerware, figurines, and even lighting equipment. So how can a newbie tell if one product is glass or crystal? Here’s a list of things that can help you differentiate between glass and crystal:
- Crystals, regardless of quality, can create a prism of rainbow colours when light is directed to them. Some would only have a blurred mash of colours, while others have a clear rainbow with distinct outlines. No matter the case, glass can’t have this effect, so if your table lamp shows a colourful rainbow upon directing light, then it’s most likely made from crystals.
- Crystals have a higher lead content than glass when they are manufactured. It is said that the higher the lead content in a material, the clearer is its final product. That’s why the term “crystal clear” accurately describes the clarity of crystals, as glass usually has a hazy, unclear appearance due to less lead.
- If you have a UV light readily available, shine it on your suspected table lamp. If there’s a green tint, it’s most likely made from glass. If the hue is closer to blue, then it’s probably crystal.
- Another test that can be done due to the difference in a crystal and a glass’ lead content is the resulting sound when jabbed. When tapped, crystals produce an echo-like tone, and it’s also longer than glass.
- Generally, glass is thicker than crystal. It’s more durable and resistant to force. Despite this, crystals are heavier than glass. Therefore, if you have a table lamp, check its thickness, durability, and weight and compare it to your other certified glass or crystal table lamp.
