Gold: Material vs Colour
The colour gold shares similar attributes to the colour yellow. It’s the symbol of abundance and extravagance. Moreover, as it’s a warm colour, it livens up a space.
The material gold is a precious mineral often used in jewellery and gemstones. It’s associated with glamour, sparkle, prosperity, and grandeur. In addition, certain commodities made of gold are believed to boost health and wellness or create a path to success.
Not all that is golden are made of gold. For example, our golden table lamps are not made of pure gold. As gold is highly-priced and rare, gold table lamps are usually only gilded or plated with gold combined with other metals. However, most of them are only painted with gold, letting us showcase them at affordable prices.
Tips on Selecting Your Gold Table Lamp
Unlike light fixtures such as pendant lights and chandeliers, table lamps are portable and efficient go-to lighting for any room in the house. They are great statement pieces in the living area and accompanying lights on bedside tables and countertops.
Before you buy a gold table lamp, you must first identify its purpose in your desired location. Any light, including table lamps, can function as the leading light of the room, a task light for everyday activities, or as accent lighting to create the perfect ambience in your space. The location and room placement of the lamp will determine its lighting function.
For example, suppose you want a golden table lamp that can accompany the wall decors in your living room. In that case, consider a golden table lamp with an angular shade to harmonize with the wall's flatness. Most importantly, since gold is a striking colour, your table lamp should emit a soft glow to ensure that it won't overpower the allure of your wall's decors.
An additional tip is to consider the size and height of your table lamp. For example, if you're going to place it on a short cabinet, consider a plump or short golden table lamp to maintain the proportion of that space. Also, make sure that you're getting a table lamp that leaves at least a six-inch room from all edges of your counter-space - you don't want it to be accidentally knocked over or bumped into. Finally, if you're going to put lots of table lamps in a room, a good designer tip is to make sure they are all at the same height.
Many retailers sell table lamps in shades only or in bases only. If you want to mix-and-match shades and bases, interior designer Judith Balis recommends that you buy a shade that mimics the base. For example, a golden square base goes well with a square shade. Also, the shade's size should be one-half to three-fourths of the base and should wholly cover the lamp's socket. Moreover, for safety reasons, the space between the lamp's bulb and the inner portion of the shade should be at least five inches on all sides.
Lastly, if you're redesigning a room and are looking for light fixtures, see if your chosen table lamp is part of a designer collection.
