Most smart pendant lights divide this functionality into three stages - no light, 50% brightness, and full blast - but the most advanced smart pendants have five- or ten-stage dimming attributes.

Mood Setting: Directly associated with correlated colour temperatures (CCT), this feature is the next most popular attribute found in smart pendant lights. Mood setting is a technology that allows you to change the CCT of your lighting, illuminating the desired and most appropriate light colour to fit the environment. For a clearer picture, warm white tones ranging from 3000K to 4000K CCT invite a cosy atmosphere, so they’re most appropriate when relaxing in the living space. When concentration and focus are necessary, perhaps during work or office hours, just change your smart pendant light’s CCT to 6500K or other cool white tones. Note that most smart pendant lights only allow up to three CCT settings for light change - one warm white CCT, one white CCT, and one cool white CCT - forming the 3CCT feature listed in their product descriptions. Having a smart pendant light with this feature allows you to adjust the lighting according to your needs without buying more pendants or changing their light bulbs to the one with the preferred CCT .

Automated or Scheduled Lighting: Smart pendants are known for their time-based operations. Some can have settings similar to alarm clocks, turning on and off at specified time intervals within the days. Others are sensitive to motion or other variables, automatically turning on when it detects movement within their sensing range and turning off after an appropriate amount of time has passed.

Smart Sensing and Activation: Related to the previous point, most smart pendant lights sold nowadays have sensors integrated inside their circuits. These transducers and actuators help facilitate convenient and secure lighting. For example, some smart pendant lights have light-sensitive sensors which activate their circuit when the amount of natural light it detects goes below a specific level. Due to this, these lights are great night lamps in outdoor covered areas, automatically shining brightness during starless nights and shutting off the lighting when dawn breaks. Besides light-sensitive smart pendants, there are also others that are sound-, temperature-, and motion-sensitive for your reference.

Remote Application System: Originally, smart pendant lights were hanging lights that could be remotely operated using a mechanical controller. This functionality distinguishes them from other pendants that require switch operations connected to the main body and circuit via wires. However, most smart pendant lights nowadays are remotely controlled by a digital or virtual controller, often in the form of a home assistant such as Siri and Alexa or a mobile application instead of a physical mechanical device.
