The Beginning of Edison Bulbs

Edison bulbs are not a recent invention, in fact, they have been around for over 100 years now and continue to be widely used in modern lighting designs. The style is named after Mr. Thomas Edison himself and it is totally remarkable.

Edison crafted delicate glass bulbs with filaments inside that were designed to have high resistance and require less electrical power than the arc lamps of the time. He had his own glassblowing shed where he carefully made these bulbs for testing in search of an electric light suitable for home use. Ultimately, this led him to develop a vacuum bulb containing a filament —a radically new invention at that time— which could pave the way for small yet powerful electric lights.

Different Types of Edison Bulbs
